Clarke backs plans to favour female judges
Justice Secretary Kenneth Clarke is backing plans to make the judiciary more diverse by favouring female appointees and people from ethnic backgrounds over white men.The strategy, which some commentators have called “positive discrimination”, has gained support from senior judges and could reduce the dominance of white male magistrates.
