Council staff pay freeze continues for third year
Council workers are considering industrial action after the Local Government Association (LGA) confirmed that pay for the sector’s 1.6 million staff will be frozen in 2012/13 for the third consecutive year.The LGA said its decision not to offer local government employees a pay rise was made to protect funding for frontline services and to keep further job losses to a minimum at councils across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
