French bakery Paul's new recruitment process was an excellent first winner of this new category, highlighting the importance of the candidate's experience. Its "How to recruit a Paul person" initiative, which included the use of a dedicated resource centre, meant that all applicants had a positive experience – even those who were unsuccessful. Educating managers on this new approach has improved the quality of candidates, rapidly improved staff retention and increased their motivation.
